Poppy the Egg

This week two pupils in my class (room 21) sent out a notice about eggs. Who would expect to get a notice about an egg at this time in the year? I did because the holidays are coming up, in two weeks, and guess what, those holidays are called... The Easter Holidays. 

I have a shoe box that I transformed into a secure home for Poppy. I made it out of some bits and bobs from my old mini play house.

As I think that you already know Mum and Dad, I have an egg named Poppy, who loves to read Harry Potter, eat donuts, and sleep all day.

Room 21 have been enjoying doing this because it is a competition to see whose egg can last the longest. I don't think that I mentioned that before.

I know that some people will be thinking "oh you can just hard boil the egg" but you can't because we have a method to our madness. All we do is we spin the egg on the floor (not carpet) and then you stop it with your finger, and then you take your finger off and you see if it is still spinning, and if it is then it is a raw egg because the yolk is still spinning around inside. 

Year 7 Choir

This week we got told who got into the choir for the year 7 and I was one of the lucky people that got into it. We started after morning tea and I had no clue what to expected. I walked in sat down then we started. All of the songs I had never heard before but now I know one of them by memory. All of the songs are really high so you have to lift your eyebrows as high as you can. (If you lift your eyebrows up when you are singing then your voice will rise)🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵

Writing

This week I found out that I need to use language features to improve my writing to get to level five. 

I have been practising my writing levels so that I can be better when I am older because I am desperate to be an author.

This week Wiki and I learnt how to write and address a letter properly, also the person that we wrote to was the Queen. 
We have been doing an inquiry called Turangawaewae. That means a place to stand. 
Our question was about 'Why can't the whole world be like Singapore because they are a tidy and a rubbish free community.  

Electronics and Technology

Electronics 

In Electronics I have been making my very own Portable Emergency Light. 

My emergency light needed to be portable, durable and bright. 

I used a 9-volt battery and corflute folded into a triangle to protect the circuit.

Mathematics

In Room 21 we have our very own learning goals. We had the task to try to learn them. My mathematics goal was to learn to read and write numbers up to a million. I have also been learning to read and write decimals. I thought that it would be a good idea to go home and learn them. 

Writing

In Room 21 we have our very own writing goals. My writing task was using 'speech marks' correctly. I have the best teacher ever (Mrs.August) that now I have to take the task to try to improve.
